This is a question we get a lot at Executive Gift Shoppe. What order should I enter the initials in when choosing a monogram font. When engraving a monogram using either the script monogram or circle monogram font, you’ll want to put the initial of the last name in the middle. For example, if the recipients name is John Adam Smith, you would enter the initials as “JSA”. The S will be larger, and in the middle, so you’ll want to make sure it is the initials for the last name.

Many of our customers find this confusing and assume we will change the order around. We won’t, so you’ll need to enter the letters in the order you want them.

The 2 monogram fonts, circle monogram and script monogram, are classic, traditional fonts that lend an air of elegance and style to any items they are engraved on. Many people are no longer familiar with the etiquette on the order of the initials for these fonts, so you can let them know when presenting their flasks, money clips, etc. to them that the initials are indeed in the correct order. Make sure they know that the last initial is supposed to be in the middle so they don’t try and exchange their new gift!
